Ideas everyone can use
Publish accessible articles, papers, and explainers that examine AI’s opportunities and risks, make room for different perspectives, and help people form their own views.
Artificial intelligence is changing our world. Together, we can ask how it might serve people, protect the vulnerable, and help humanity flourish.
Join the conversation ↗Intelligence tells us what we can do.
Wisdom asks what we should do.
Open Eye One is a grassroots effort growing from a concern I suspect many of us share: as artificial intelligence becomes more capable, how do we ensure that care for humanity guides its development and use?
The thought leadership of people such as Jamie Bartlett, Mo Gawdat, and Roman Yampolskiy has helped inspire this effort. Their work has prompted questions, challenged assumptions, and encouraged me to participate in the conversation. They are not involved in Open Eye One, and naming them does not imply their endorsement or agreement with our positions.
This initiative is beginning with my questions and convictions, but I hope it will grow through the knowledge, experience, and thoughtful disagreement of others. Religious and secular perspectives are welcome. You do not need a technical background to have something valuable to contribute.
AI assists with our writing, and I want to be open about that.
Our initial material has developed through conversations in which I explain the topics, values, and concerns I want to explore. AI helps organize those ideas, connect the arguments, and produce a comprehensible draft.
The process I intend to develop goes further: I identify a topic, then AI interviews me through questions that draw out my reasoning, assumptions, and uncertainties. Those answers become the basis for a structured draft. I then review and edit the substance, check supporting sources, and decide what is ready to share for community comment.
That human review is essential. AI assistance does not establish that an argument is correct or that a source supports it. Responsibility for what we publish remains with us.
Over time, I hope to assemble a council of advisors who will help develop the questions, challenge the arguments, and review papers before they reach wider community discussion. That council is not yet in place. Until then, our work should be read as an emerging founder-led contribution, open to correction and refinement.
We intend to establish Open Eye One as a nonprofit and apply for recognition under section 501(c)(3). We have not yet received that recognition, and we cannot currently assure supporters that contributions would be tax-deductible.
Ezrah Consulting is providing initial support through services and permission to use resources such as website and domain arrangements.
Our intention is to welcome financial contributions once the appropriate fundraising arrangements are in place. Those funds would support the mission through technology, research and learning, publishing, promotion, administration, and other documented organizational expenses.
Funds will not be available for personal spending. Legitimate organizational expenses and any future compensation will be accounted for separately and transparently.
If the initiative gains traction and has the resources, I anticipate proposing modest compensation or stipends for the director and potentially for substantial advisory work. These would require appropriate independent approval, conflict-of-interest safeguards, and clear disclosure. They are future possibilities, not existing commitments.
I want this to remain an efficient movement, with spending proportionate to the work and a clear explanation of how support advances the mission.
You are welcome to read, question, contribute research, share your experience, or simply stay informed. You can also express interest in helping develop papers or joining the future advisory council.
We are starting with a conviction that AI should serve human dignity and flourishing. What that requires in practice deserves an open conversation.
Thank you for being part of it.

Founder, Open Eye One
More wisdom. More care. More voices.
AI is no longer a distant possibility. It is entering our workplaces, our schools, our healthcare, and the decisions that shape our everyday lives.
It can help us learn, create, and relieve suffering. It can also make it easier to overlook people, deepen inequality, and place more power in fewer hands. Neither outcome is inevitable. The choices we make now matter.
Open Eye One is an emerging public initiative bringing together people of different backgrounds to explore how artificial intelligence can serve human dignity, strengthen communities, and protect those most vulnerable to harm.
We believe everyone deserves a voice in this conversation. You do not need a technical background to care about the kind of future we are building.
To bring wisdom, care, and human voices into the development and use of artificial intelligence—so that it serves people, protects dignity, and helps communities flourish.
We draw on secular thought, religious traditions, lived experience, and technical knowledge. We invite questions and respectful disagreement, because no single person or tradition holds every answer.
Our initiative is just beginning. These are the activities we intend to develop as people, expertise, and resources come together.
Publish accessible articles, papers, and explainers that examine AI’s opportunities and risks, make room for different perspectives, and help people form their own views.
Invite community members, people of faith and no faith, researchers, and practitioners to share experiences, ask questions, and learn from one another.
Develop practical questions and educational resources for people and organizations making decisions about AI, with attention to dignity, accountability, and those most affected.
Offer talks, workshops, and, as the initiative develops, mission-aligned advisory services that help organizations apply these ideas in their work.
Six founding positions on dignity, care, participation, freedom, inclusion, and responsibility. These are starting points for discussion, open to evidence and thoughtful disagreement.
Explore our positions ↗We want to bring people of faith and people of no faith into a thoughtful, open conversation—alongside technical experts, communities, and anyone curious about our future.
We are beginning by listening and learning. As the initiative grows, we hope to bring those insights into useful public resources and practical guidance.
“What would it look like to build a future with care for the people who must live in it?”
A question to explore together—not a finished answer.
Join us for updates and invitations to participate. If you are interested in helping shape our work, you can also express interest in the future advisory council.
